POWDER

It was a great powder day at Alpine Meadows Ca. I came up with Tracy. We met up with Trevor who had was demo’ing some nice Teli skis. We rode to the top into the abyss happily. The lower levels of the mountain were muted and low contrast. At the top a lot of riding was by feel and completely whited out by a wind blown fog.

As we road down, Trevor hit a large ice boulder and crashed rather gracefuly. He had a hard time clipping back in to his ski’s but we were soon off. I was wondering if the riding would become better than it was at the top. We nearly silently carved along through the treeline. The shadows from the solum giants made the snows contrast more clear. Contrast allowed for sight d the terrain. Sight created anticipation and performance. We rode like stallions in perfect form (my opinion of course) . Powder! Fluffy, perfect powder. The POWDER was constantly rejuvenating itself as we road the lift. It’s hard to explain how much endorfins filled my brain as we rode. It was glee filled and a perfect moment in time.

Over the last years I had a hard time understanding why people wanted to ski and ride powder and I have now fully understood this. I can now ride powder. It’s as simple as that. In the years past all I did was ride corduroy. Powers was in fact painful, annoying and difficult to ride. It took riding it for 2 years to actually understand the technique. Sure all you peeps are awesome and can learn it asap, but it took me a long while.

Cold, Man! It was a very cold day. Twenty nine at the base, and maybe nineteen at the top. I had made promise to a special friend who lives in Kelana Jaya, Malaysia that if I ever took her skiing or snowboarding I would make sure she was toasty warm like curry rice! Today… I am not sure I could have done this. Trevor and I worked very hard to keep warm as we rode the wind blown lift. I thought of her while I covered my face to try to prevent it from freezing off. The day was epic! Its now time for my retire.

Good night!
